Grains and Carbs

Sweet Corn vs Carrots: Nutrition Comparison

Sweet corn and carrots are both popular vegetable sides that are naturally sweet, but they differ considerably in their calorie and carbohydrate content. Sweet corn is significantly higher in calories and carbohydrates — it is technically a grain when dried — and provides more protein than carrots. Carrots are much lower in calories and carbohydrates, making them an excellent low-calorie snack option. Both are good sources of fibre and provide important antioxidants — corn provides lutein and zeaxanthin for eye health, while carrots are rich in beta-carotene for vitamin A. For a filling, energy-dense vegetable side, corn delivers more. For a low-calorie, high-volume option, carrots are outstanding.
